A Tennessee orthopedic surgeon was shot and killed by a patient inside an exam room. Officials said the attack was targeted and have a suspect in custody.

I live in Minnesota, and a few years ago a man went to a Doctor's house with a gun and blew him away when the Doctor answered his front door!
It turns out that the doctor was an OB/GYN, and he had DELIVERED the gunman….30 some years ago.
Apparently the gunman was carrying a grudge cuz it was a difficult birth, and he blamed the doctor for his own mental health problems!!
Imagine that Doctor bringing HIS OWN MURDERER into the world!!

Patients have shot other doctors in ED mostly but they get mad and get even and as usual the patient had a loaded gun. 🤷🏼♀️

When I grow up I want to become an officer mommy. Mother I'm so glad I came to work as an orthropedic surgeon it's so much safer career choice. Lunatics everywhere .. sadness for the families.

The Healthcare industry is broken. Rather than providing healing, doctors and hospitals typically do more harm than benefit (financially and mentally) to their patients. This is due to the profit-driven industry defining the dollar and protection from liability as a greater priority than successful outcomes for their patients.
We need universal Healthcare to remove the profit motive from basic Healthcare services and ensure we keep a healthy and productive working class.
Think of how many incarcerations could we avoid just with adequate access to free mental health services. That's only one aspect of the potential longterm benefits of increased Healthcare access.

I've been saying for years that healthcare facilities can no longer be gun free zones. Disgruntled patients or families have been targeting medical professionals with rapidly increasing frequency. If we are going to live in a society with a lot of guns, then lets all have them to protect ourselves at all times. Including doctors, nurses, paramedics, etc.
There needs to be an FBI investigation into the entire Healthcare Industry … Let me guess Doctor didn't take his Black patient seriously because he's Black or Doctor was purposely messing up this man's Insurance Claim because he Black … It's been known to happen … Just this time he just picked the wrong Black Person to do it too…. In prison he'll get all the medical care he need they fix'em right on up , Because you can't collect for a dead prisoners , Right?…
No surprise. The US thinks guns aren't the problem and as long as they believe that fallacy, this will become more common. This doesn't happen in countries with strict gun laws with the same or higher levels of mental health issues and drug use.
