  1. It's all political.

When a minority actor wins, it's strategy for the current year of scandals in the country. The following years, they revert back to selecting the predominant Caucasian casts and crew. VFX companies that aren't paid well often win Oscars to silence the pay-gap. There are movies you've never heard off that win Oscars just so the next year, the director would have more of a bargaining weight for high-budget projects (where the real money is).

  2. not everyone dogpiling on andrea when the real enemy is ana de armas

  3. They're lobbying. It's interesting how all of the known humanitarian stars backed this film, essentially not allowing a Black actress to potentially get an Oscar nomination. But put all the hype behind a movie NOBODY outside LA ever watched.

  4. 1:43 Well there you go. Maybe this actress' performance was better than the "snubbed" ones?

  5. I hope she Wins as a F U to the Haters

  6. Why was her nomination being investigated? Did the Academy not think her performance was worthy of a nomination? Because from what I've read so far, either from the critics or audiences alike, they all sing nothing but (unanimous) praises for Riseborough's performance in To Leslie. Some even predicted her to get an Oscar nomination, so certainly not that unsurprising or totally undeserving. They make it sound like as if Riseborough is another Pia Zadora *smh*.

  7. Heck, even some of the best performances are dead at the Box Office, but it doesn't take away from how great the work really is. The fact that "To Leslie(2022)" was discovered by the right viewers is actually a blessing, because small films are often snubbed if the hype or demand isn't there, or often times the right cast choice. Can't say for myself to what happened, but yes, it does look fishy, because I mean come-on it's the Oscars, Winners are pre-determined already, which means the people behind the scenes had more than enough time to be picky and choosy.

  8. Yet ana de armas got nominated for both a razzie and a oscar

  9. George Santos has already won the Best Actress Oscar.

  10. She is a brillant actress. I hope she wins

  11. Stop the "oh no black actors were nominated" just stop please

  12. so what if her movie only did 27k$? if she did so well on that project she deserves that nomination

  13. Sadie Sink should have been nominated

  14. Nobody watches the Oscars anyway 🥰🥰🥰🥰

  15. The controversy is that the nomination came from lobbying but from what I read, the usual way to get nominated is for studios to throw money around (which doesn't seem right to me — sounds like privilege). Lobbying to me is actually the fair way. But ultimately should it not be about the merits of the performance rather than how the performance gains attention?

  16. The internet has been making the Oscar’s obsolete for nearly a decade now. Most people go to the comments or peer reviews rather than big business takes on most media nowadays. They just gotta let go.

  17. Andrea should get a nom for ever performance she does. Insanely talented actress

  18. Hollywood Actors, Agents, Directors, Executives, and Producers, just to name a few, have been lobbying since the very first Oscars. So, why is this out of the closet now? My guess is, one pissed-off Karen is stirring g the pot.

  19. Gwyneth “Worst Academy Award Recipient EVER” Paltrow pushing for someone to be nominated for an Oscar just how (checks notes) Harvey Weinstein campaigned for her to get an Oscar.

  20. The fact that there was a campaign to get her nominated seems to be the underlying issue.
The academy has increased the best movie nominees to 10, maybe it’s time to increase the best actor/actress nominations as well

  21. Oscar’s all about the money…History’s most clever gimmick to hype a product! I Love the buzz, it’s Genius…but let’s get real🎬🎬🎬

  22. Given recent years it's a wonder there are still awards shows. After Gervais massacred them all on stage and screen it's really irrelevant.

  23. People, in general, are such a disappointment! I wish this talented actor the very best!!

  24. Boo hoo we rewrite history to make it seem like we didn't sell our own people in waaaaaman king we spent millions on this lie and we didn't even get nominated waaaaaah

  25. I don’t really care about the criticisms of the nominations but I hope either can win besides Ana. She destroyed a celebrity’s legacy.

  26. Oscar nominations are all lobbied.

  27. after W. smith won his oscar, everything is possible!

  28. Grass-roots movements have a history in America. I am glad to see Riseborough nominated. The Academy only modernizes when it's caught trying to effing manoeuvre around with rules. Stop it, Academy. Grass-roots movements are a real thing and here to stay.

  29. Yet another nail in Oscars coffin!

  30. Good to see genuine talent and support winning out over Hollywood fatcats.

  31. Omg, who the hell cares????

  32. I think they need to get rid of the Oscars altogether.

  33. Here we go again 🤦‍♂️

  34. ^I am so over this whole backlash in every single award show. I mean in general in the entertainment industry there is SOOOOO much diversity now in all aspects from actors, writers, producers. I get it. But, it feels there has to be a quota to be filled for certain things. Like, if there is no POC nominated in a category then OH NO it's racists. Sometimes it just depends on a performance. And, at the end of the day its an award that doesn't matter!I mean 5 actors could have done AMAZING in a category and only 1 wins…are the rest actually losers? lol. I didn't see Andrea's film, but why put a damper on her moment! I hope she wins now! lol.

  35. You jackals of conformity are using her most unflattering photos because you're corporate stooge's! Every role she takes she steals the show. Oblivion, Shadow Dancer to name two but she's paid her dues. Listen dummies if You think Hollywood A list Actresses are supporting other actresses who don't legitimately deserve it you're truly stupid. They ain't giving their admiration away to other women unless they're kicking ass and taking names!

  36. Oh and Harvey Weinstein didn't repeatedly break the lobbying rules over many years? Shame on you Academy for going after a nomination that was richly deserved and all the people who are just pissed that Davis and Deadwyler were not nominated. You can of course be pissed about those two incredible actresses being left off but please also give Riseborough her due

  37. You know what. If this woman was black, the same people who were "lobbying" would be congratulated for using their privilege or whatever. So now actors can never appreciate anyone else

  38. Uhh so Harvey Weinstein does it, its OK buy other people do it its not? Harvey's lobbying has brought hundreds of Oscar nods over the years.

  39. Not sure how she Bested Viola Davis in Woman King??? Absolutely not.

  40. After accepting Harvey Weinsteins bribe's and lobbing for years the crackdown now will OF COURSE be of a woman. The Oscars are elitist BS and I have long stopped watching.
Once they gave Gweneth that Oscar for Shakespere in Love the Oscars have been tainted ever since.

  41. The bottom line is that Andrea Riseborough is one of the most talented actors alive, period, She gave one of THE stellar performance of the year and is 100% deserving of this nomination, even if the film earned only $400 and voters saw it screened on a side of a building. It is brilliant work from an extremely gifted performer, and it is nominations like this that gives the Academy Awards any credibility. The Academy can boo-hoo and bitch and moan all they want: it doesn't change a thing. No guidelines were violated. For the love of God, stop acting like whiny infants!

  42. I don’t care.
I’m just rooting for Everything Everywhere all at once.

  43. She is a great actress, well deserved

  44. its unfair.
shangela should be nominated for her brilliant acting in the movie nobody saw.
