The swagger walk by Will Smith after he assaulted Chris Rock triggered a little bit of PTSD in me. It was the helpless feeling I had watching the bully walk away after humiliating everyone on the playground as a child.
Saved the Oscars? Who cares?! Who saved Chris? No one. Certainly not this self-serving ninny. Nah, Chris Rock did not save the night. He continued to poke the bear after the slap just making it worse. He could have just made a comment about getting punched by Ali and then moved on. He kept on with it, and wouldn't let it, and that's when Will got mad, making Chris just that much more embarassed. Does everyone think the slap looked fake though, especially with Will laughing through it all. It was the first part that make people think it was planned, and the reality set in with the second part, that it was not.

The victim should never be put in the position to be responsible to decide what happens next, immediately after an assault and battery. The fact that the academy and Will Packer are using Chris's statements (directly after the assault) as rationale for not ejecting Will Smith is absolutely despicable; it's a second slap to Chris. DISGUSTING! When someone is assaulted, it's time for the people around the victim to step up and take control of the situation. All of a sudden Chris Rock is the decision maker, producer and director moment after being victimized! Ridiculous. Total lack of leadership. Those in producer positions should understand what it means to be a leader and have leadership and management training… Clearly Will Parker should never hold a position near to this again.
Will Smith assaulted Chris Rock period. To begin with, Will Smith should have been charged with disorderly conduct. He should have been arrested and removed from the Dolby treater. Disorderly conduct is a statutory crime. Will Smith was violent and using offensive language in a public place. This is a violation of California Penal Code 647. No charges need to be filed by Chris Rock; this is a police matter. Instead, the LAPD approach Chris Rock, who is in a hostile environment because it appeared as if everyone was more supportive of Will Smith, than the Shocked, traumatized, and confused Chris Rock. So, the LAPD decide to approach a person who is still in shock and trying to make sense as to what just happen. The LAPD want Chris Rock to file charges. Since when does the police need a victim statement to charge someone with disorderly conduct.
