While I'm glad my fellow Americans and other tourists are getting out safely, we need to not just turn a blind eye to this unrest in Peru.
Something similar or at least widespread protests could really happen here.
Imagine if January 6th riot would have been successful?
Do we believe the rest of us in the country would just have kept quiet while most of us saw that all the lawsuits for T** calling election fraud failed?
I'm pretty sure the 80+ million would have done some sort of protesting (hopefully not violent), all over the USA.
Not just DC, like T****'s supporters planned.
These people just had their votes invalidated by a corrupt congress (there are actual corruption charges against many members of this Peruvian congress).
On the other hand there is no evidence on Castillo's corruption, they had to make up the reason for impeachment as "morally incapacitated" with NO EVIDENCE….
Unfortunately, Peru's mainstream media, who I assume are your contacts and collaborators for these stories in the country, are more than biased.
Maybe when some of the tourists get back they can tell us what they heard from the protestors themselves (not all of them are violent.. just like here in BLM protests).
