Lets not forgot how much Pete failed on this. In August, 38 state attorney generals contacted congress outraged that Buttigieg was ignoring complaints about airlines. They were so concerned they asked congress to strip the dept of transportation's oversight of customer complaints to airlines and award that duty to the states themselves because Pete's department wasn't responding.
NY states attorney Letitia James, wrote to Buttigieg in August about concerns she had over increasing flight delays and cancellations over the past months, particularly over holiday weekends. Pete ignored all that and said in Sept that he believed things would be better by the holidays.
He ignored the issues being brought to him and is now trying to right the ship after it ran aground.

Four months before Southwest’s mass cancellation of flights, 38 state attorneys general wrote to congressional leaders declaring that Buttigieg’s agency “failed to respond and to provide appropriate recourse” to thousands of consumer complaints about airlines customer service.
"We are going to hold them accountable"…… LOL…… like government being held accountable? ….. lol

As a devout Southwest Airlines flyer, with almost 400K Southwest points in my account, this both surprises me and worries me. Southwest has always been known for their punctuality and devotion to customer service, that's why I've loved them so much over the years. What's happening?!?! Maybe they expanded their flights to the Caribbean and Hawaii too quickly? I hope they stay in business, I'm so used to flying with them.
