Seems like there signal intel equipment was probably monitoring cell phones and geolocating them to sensitive sights. May have been a response due to loss of access with the numerous Tik Tok bans. The most concerning is that they were flying the balloon over sensitive areas and conducting signal collection. So you have to ask "why". They're probably hedging their informational position before probably one of 2 things: fully backing Russia, or invading Taiwan.

According to US company Google, the US spends around $500 million a year on anti China propaganda. I made a bet with myself that the news they would release was that the balloon carried sensitive information. If they had found proof of meteorlogical data, that would have to be suppressed for Nationla Security. Why would the Chinese send a massive, slow moving white balloon, to get pictures of the outside of buildings, when it could easily be shot down?

If this administration was interested in studying the hardware under the balloon why didn't they target the balloon and not the payload ? Pop a hole in the balloon and it comes straight down. The video seems to show a direct hit on the hardware scattering it to pieces !!!
