The town of Churchill in Manitoba, Canada is known as the “Polar Bear Capital of the World.” Tourists go out on the tundra to see them in the wild. Now, as climate change shrinks their natural habitat, more and more bears are going into town. NBC News’ Anne Thompson follows the officials charged with keeping the bears out of town and speaks with Polar Bears International’s Geoff York about why this is happening.

I bailed out of going to Hudson Bay this season because of the anticipated lack of sea ice formation. And based on what I saw on the polar bear cams, there wasn't a whole lot of action along the banks of Hudson Bay with bears congregating to take the journey on their temporary floating ice home. Sad.
No one has ever shown that human emissions of carbon dioxide drive global warming…
They are starving. They are only coming to town because they can smell food there. They need help. The lack of ice matters because seals hunt for fish under the ice and they come up for air where are the polar bears can eat them. We need to create artificial ice floes so that the seals will return. Then the polar bears would not come into town. These artificial ice flows could be placed far enough away that the bears wouldn't even be tempted.
They will end up eating people and animals.
