Tampa Police Department arrested a man for allegedly shining a green laser at their helicopter from his apartment building.

The helicopter pilots were not injured, but Officer Stefon Filer, a spokesman with Tampa police, stressed the dangers of shining lasers at any aircraft.
“It causes a distraction to pilots and it also messes up their video feed,” Filer told USA TODAY. “It literally blinds them for a second or two, but we also can’t differentiate whether that’s a weapon or just a laser.”

Those things are insane. Some people had them at the fireworks display the other night and I couldn't believe how powerful they were. I didn't think you could have something like that.

I do believe he should have been arrested and charged because how would he like it if somebody put a bright light in his car while he's driving and he wrecks and thereby knows how it happened besides a bright light
What’s truly scary about this is surveillance capability of the cops. Another tool for a tyrannical government.
And secondly, I personally not even sure this is a crime, sure they say it’s dangerous, heard friends mention it, but does the typical citizen actually know whether it’s a bonafide crime or not to shine a laser out the window? Can they even prove intent of endangerment?
Who knows but we know they can be at your house in 2 minutes and arrest you, but they can’t ever seem to put a druggie pedo that lives in the White House behind bars.
