The sad part is much of the DNA evidence could be almost useless. Young college adults are extremely physically active with their friends, classmates and other social acquaintances. Literally a dozen or more young people could have been in and out or near the door of the home on the day of the crime. So the crime scene literally could have no usable DNA samples. So many DNA samples could just lead one deadend after another. DNA is useful in rape cases or murder cases with one victim in one room alone. However, DNA is perishable or getting the right DNA sample linked to the murderer, that isn't covered with other DNA samples from other people who were in the residence, could be almost like finding a needle in a haystack in a busy college residence. Witnesses or video data, social media posts could prove critical to solving this case. Right now, this case looks like it won't be solved for years if ever because the first 48 hours is the most critical to finding a suspect.
The murderer might also have been extremely smart, well researched in forensics and careful wearing gloves, covered his hair and face, worn plastic coverings on his shoes leaving little DNA to track then burned all of his clothes etc. I realize we all leave some DNA wherever we go but a person in a hazmat suit will leave almost no DNA. Regardless, this killer has done his homework thoroughly planning this crime in great detail to fool police this long.

are we allowed to describe the likely suspect? is it a 75 year old female? will they narrow it down for us? are we all just supposed to play dumb? Who should we be on the lookout for?

Could it be a possibility that those four picked on someone on College campus.
Likely bullied someone and treated that person harshly. Or a drug deal that went bad I'm just saying sometimes college kids aren't so innocent as they say they are.
Sadly the reality is they have no evidence of who the suspect is. If they did action would of been taken by now. It has to be someone they new.

Do we know cross the road or next door neighbor is having baby or have baby or have small kids at home, I am guessing the neighbor is having issue with these collage kids lifestyle and only neighbors know the house diagram very well and also no need to use any vehicle, they know all the hiking trail behind the house and also neighbor knows basement girls are not that much fun-loving or party girls, so they are alive, Only your neighbor knows all your activity and about your house structure and also they are the only one who feels bothers by party or late night car light or sounds, Police should check all the neighbors even though if they have alibi.. Check the neighbor who has small kids and hard to get sleep for college kids parties and late night activity…. Neighbor.. check neighbor… who can easily walk and get back to home by walk .
It's not that local police are bad people with ill intent it's that they want to hold onto an investigation far bigger than them. They'd look better and more would get done by turning it over to the FBI and step into a support role. Don't knock w enough about the state police to comment but local authorities need to realize they can't control the growing pressure to perform a competent investigation and communicate what is being done clearly and effectively.
