In my neck of the woods, motorists frequently try to ram into cyclists all the time, thinking that they (motorists) are the "kings" or "queens" of the streets, and, yes, even when cyclists are in bike lanes. Reportedly, some "strong" cyclist "protection" laws, targeting offending motorists, have recently been rolled out. Apparently, this has not curbed violence against cyclists; perhaps adding teeth to the so-called "strong" laws by making empirical examples of violators could make a difference. 🙂
I don't use bike lanes I only ride my bike on the sidewalk.
