Newfoundland is the province, and it's not just the King of United Kingdom – he's also going to be Canada's king, and Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, etc. Also Canada is part of the Commonwealth – it is not a Commonwealth in itself. Do Americans ever do any research?
Following independence, the USA also did many wrongs against its own native population, as the film Dances With Wolves showed, as well as having problems with racism, which still plague the country today, so it is not in a good position to criticize past wrongs committed by the British in Canada.
To be fair however to the US, not many countries in the world are in a position to lecture others about how people there are treated. China, Myanmar Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Afghanistan, Egypt, Zimbabwe and North Korea are only a few examples of many.
Maybe the Queen does need to apologize, but so do the King of Spain for its treatment treatment of people in Central America and South America, and the President of France for its treatment of people in North Africa and Asia, as well as the President of the US for its past treatment of natives.
Since humans have often treated each other badly ever since they came into being, the need for apologizing may never end.
Bad things are still being committed today, like Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and Russian President Putin certainly needs to apologize for that.
Still, Canada is a peaceful country and has a better record of addressing the past than most. Its race relations are certainly better there than in its southern neighbor and with far less crime, and although it is not quite unknown for Canada to have mass shootings – many people were killed by a gunman in Nova Scotia about 2 years ago – these are quite exceptional, whereas in the States there seems to be at least one every week, the massacre in Buffalo, New York State, bring the latest example.
