Not ok with racist text but that doesn’t mean they didn’t collar the right murderers. They have surveillance video of the crime!You shouldn’t need new evidence.

i would think this is more to do with the fact that any cops involved, all evidence would be thrown out due to the scandal, as with any interview footage if a cop in the scandal is involved, along with none of the detectives can testify if they are part of the scandal, so leaving the DA's office very little to work with, just a body, little to no evidence, no officers to testify would be a hard case to win, the FBI needs to come and handle the cases in meantime

I wonder if there are consequential damages that can be claimed here. These 2 families have obviously been wronged, having the value of the cases lost, emotional distress caused, by illegal behavior in the form of racism.
So unless there is a belief that the suspects in the arson and desecration of a corpse were arrested and charged based solely on their race (whatever it is; it wasn’t mentioned here), that should result in a full review of all statements, evidence and relevant information pertaining to the case, not an automatic dismissal of all charges
Don’t get me wrong, I understand the importance of making sure that there wasn’t racial or discrimination bias involved, but a full dismissal of all charges makes no sense
“Your case is under a fine-tooth comb review” makes a lot more sense, especially if there was any evidence that seemed suspicious.
I do also understand the double jeopardy issue which is why a full review makes more sense.
Review everything to make sure the ones arrested are actually the right people, and if they are then they are already where they belong.
If they are not then they’d likely sue the city regardless whether absolved here or via an appeal
But if they are released on dismissed charges and it turns out that they ARE the correct people then they can’t be retried at all without a new piece of evidence
They might have something up their sleeve, but if not then they may have placed the area in active danger beyond what the level of danger usually is

Then, retrain to include psychological recognition of potential law enforcement candidates with racist, narcissist, power-hungry, hateful, and ill-tempered characteristics, then flag them to be disqualified from any agency for life.
Hold supervisors and departmental authority accountable legally and demote or fire them as well
