Rare flesh-eating bacteria found in person who died in New York



New York health officials are warning of a rare but potentially deadly flesh-eating bacteria that was discovered in a recently deceased person on Long Island. WNBC reports.

  8. There was just that case of a woman getting her leg amputated from bacterial infection in The Bahamas, too. Weird stuff going on in the oceans lately with bacteria it seems… =/

  9. Very sad. Back when I was a kid in the 50's and 60's, I lived near a lake that had a popular swimming area. It was common practice not to go in the water if your skin had a cut or wound of any kind. I had to temporarily stop my swimming lessons because I had a cut on my leg. Since I had that knowledge growing up, I guess I assumed it was a known thing everywhere, like "don't touch the oven burner." I'm surprised this isn't a universal concept.

This is why I never ever go into lakes or rivers, years ago, in California, my 2 friends jumped into a Lake, I knew better not to join them, gut instinct, when they emerged from the Lake, they BOTH projectile vomited, immediately. I laughed at them and said, I told you not to go into that Lake! Many creepy creatures lurking about in there, I guess I watched too many Jeremy Wade’s show “ River Monsters!
