Recession Is Likely In ‘Early 2023,’ Despite Report Showing GDP Growth

A recession is likely to come in ‘early 2023’ despite a 2.6% GDP increase in the third quarter, says CNBC Economics Editor Jeff Cox. Economic concerns come as inflationary pressures continue and consumers are spending less. “We saw a drop-off in consumer spending, the pace of increase there, falling, of course, as prices continue to rise,” Cox said. NBC News Correspondent Josh Lederman, Jason Furman and Omair Sharif join Meet the Press NOW to discuss the state of the economy.

  1. Lol we’re way past a recession. I mean half of the world don’t want to use the US dollar.

  2. Vote GOP democrats don't have a plan to fix the economy. You can't keep throwing money at the problem and hope it gets better. Inflation is on biden

  3. We have been in recession for months. Biden clearly changed the definition to help him during the midterms. It didn't work

  4. Those exports that help boost the gdp comes out of the oil reserves sold to other countries! They are working the numbers.

  5. "HOW DARE YOU PRIORITIZE THE ECONOMY OVER MASS LOCKDOWN?"
"HOW CAN YOU THINK ABOUT FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY WHEN AMERICANS ARE STRUGGLING DURING THIS LOCKDOWN?"
"THERE'S NO EVIDENCE OF INFLATION. APPROVE OUR SPENDING WISHLIST"
    "INFLATION IS TRANSITORY BRO"
"INFLATION IS LESS TRANSITORY THAN WE THOUGHT, BUT WE'RE NOT IN A RECESSION"
    "OK WE'RE IN A RECESSION"

a round of applause for the Biden administration and its supporters, ladies and gents.

  6. are the gop really good for the economy? first of all, inflation set in quite some time ago. the economy went down mostly from the pandemic. if the gop were at the helm, would people's hardships with the economy lessen? doubt it…blessings to all

  7. The term "recession" is like "gain of function." The old definition no longer applies because those who told us what it meant find that definition inconvenient now.

  8. PEACE

  9. We’ll probably be in a depression by mid 2023.

  10. Lol if Trump was president, you would be blaming him for the war in Ukraine, 😂

  11. If Trump was president the inflation wouldn’t be so high

  12. USA Recession is being avoided due to the introduction of the digital currency, Nomero. It is allowing trade to happen globally and skirt sanctions that are hurting the West more than Russia. Economic sanctions never work. Russia may have lost Western companies, but is selling more oil and gas, via China, India, and others. Crude oil is flowing like crazy on Greek ships, via Turkish ships, which transfer oil just outside Greek waters. Russia is making a windfall at higher prices. In the meantime, Greece has Ukranian high tech workers, lawyers, and other professionals helping boost the economy of Greece. In fact, economists are calling it a miracle that Greece is going better than most countries in the world. Greece's population has surged by over 40% in the last 5 years. Most of that growth is undocumented, but think Grece's population is over 20 million now, from 11 million, just 5 years ago. I expect Greece's population will surge as young Greeks realize they have no future if they don't have at least 4-5 children. You need children or immigrants to pay your retirement pension. Immigrants send their money home, versus home grown children more likely to stay if there is a good future in Greece.

  13. 9:25
2025? So if a Republican wins 2024 the GOP could tout what the Dems did as their win? Well, that sucks. I see why ordinary Americans do not realize that Dems in recent history were better for the economy than Republicans.

  14. No kidding except one thing Chucky we're in a recession now

  15. “I hate corporations and rich people because they’re like, all, corporationy and rich and stuff.” – Democrat think tank.

  16. Biden is not getting re elected

  17. We were in a recession for the past 2 months wtf are you talking about

  18. NBC should stop lying for Biden. We are already in a recession

  19. They want recession. They need higher unemployment in order to control labor costs. Every corporation’s end game is slavery

  20. We’re in a recession now. Admit you freaking dumb as* Democrats. Democrats and Rinos need voted out in November

  21. Where is the post mid term Republican economic plan? Hint — there isn't one. Or its McConnell saying "we'll tell you later, or "anything Trump wants".
Vote blue Nov '22 or we're really foo – kayed.

  22. Joe Biden’s not perfect but at least really seems to want to be the president AND he’s good at it so in-spite of a looming recession it’s still better than what we had.

  23. Biden spent $7 trillion this year while bringing in $4 trillion. Of course crippling inflation is ahead.

  24. fake government. fake life. fake people. fake minds.

  25. Hey chuck when djt was president we DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM LOL

  26. They all say "look" before they begin to talk🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

  27. President Trump said this would happen years ago and you kuntz laughed at him, not so funny now. BRING BACK THE GOAT!!!!

  28. Amazing how one administration can f things up so fast.

  29. Stop interrupting your guests 👎

  30. Truth is treason in the empire of lies!

  31. Ohhhhh really…….??
    YA THINK ?
let's print and spend 6+ trillions dollars, it shouldn't hurt the economy…..🙄🙄
Obviously every democrat failed economics class.

  32. Fake news,,, I got 50 people who will tell you no such thing as inflation

  33. This GDP report is saying the US can handle higher interest rates without hurting growth.

  34. We’re in a recession. Or does that not fit the narrative? It’s going to get worse. It will be known as the Biden/Harris Depression. Thank a dimocrat

  35. I'm done sitting tight for the award advance since i acquire$23,000 every 12 days of my investment.,.

  36. Creakhouse need more money printing

  37. Biden took a booming economy with $2 gas, no wars, 2% inflation and secure borders and ruined it in less than 2 years, great job Joe 👏

  38. "There's a lot of alchemy and economic voodoo, that goes into how these numbers (the GDP) are calculated." – Said one truthful guy on the panel. I bet there's no GDP growth, and the numbers have been "alchemied and voodooed" heavily, to give the impression there was GDP growth, right before the midterms, to help with the midterms.

  39. Bidenflation is the greatest gift to the GOP midterms

  40. Well, with corporate America now responsible for 60% of current inflation by price gouging, I think it would be better if Biden invoked the price gouging laws under the national emergency of the pandemic. This would place corporate leaders in prison and subject to fines if they charge above a certain amount and profit margin.

Just like people who charge $10 for a bottle of water after a hurricane. Would be a needed lesson for corporations. One they need.
