Violence offenders can't get guns anyway. Background checks are already as thorough as they can be. Most of the mass shooters records are squeaky clean anyway.
This wouldn't stop anything. Same as banning rifles wouldn't because to make a pistol out of a rifle is a simple modification. Even banning everything except handguns or all guns wouldn't stop the violence.

Why democrats want to arm criminals and disarm law abiding citizens
This is a bandaid on a bigger issue. They scrapped funding for mental health, domestic abuse, drug abuse and any and all things to help the children of the lower income.

Why not just create digital fingerprints and location locks on triggers? Digitize the triggers so that they can’t be used in specific locations like public areas and schools. It’s 2022 I’m sure there’s an engineering person who can figure it out. I know there will always be “useable guns”, but if you start now it will make them safer for the future. I know it’s some future science fiction sounding stuff but there can be smarter measures out in place so that people can still keep their guns
