so basically these companies saythat they recycle because 1) so that they can have a "green" image 2) Increase sales. (when people come to drop off their recycling, they go into the store and buy more things) 3) they make money from incinerators that generate electricity by giving them things to burn.
wow… just wow. how evil these companies are. and evil is an understatment
https://youtu.be/zm0jslIE1kk Not discounting the respiratory problems this can cause>and respiratory problems lead to more single-use plastic (inhalers). It's a positive feedback loop.
In my state we "banned" all single-use bags from grocery stores – both paper and plastic. At least that's what the law says. The reality is that we can still get both paper and plastic bags when we get our groceries, and the bags are used just as much as before – the only difference is that we now pay for the privilege.
In a nutshell: throw away your plastics. It'll do less harm in the long run. Recycle glass and metal, and reuse what you can.
"Part of it is consumer's fault" = BS. It's not "consumers" who package everything in plastic. Corporations don't care how much they poison our water and air. Why would they reduce making plastic?
This recycling scam has been common knowledge for years.
Ive been telling all the recycling fools this for years.
Thank you for covering this!
This is one a those issues only a big news media platform could expose to get the wheels turning on getting something done… seems hopeless against them big corporates
The general public has been hoodwinked by Big Business and Big Business richer because they've been pushing the deceitful narrative about ♻️ ♻️ ♻️. I think those are greenbacks flying back to Big Business 🤔
ABC always warmongering means the real news articles have horrible ratings.
Meanwhile everything I buy is designed to break directly after the warrantee period and I'm too lazy to fix it.
Not surprised
just add a 'new plastic' TARIFF …
or a 'recycled plastic' CREDIT …
to COMPENSATE for the new plastic being CHEAPER than using the recycled material …
easy peazy …
what's the NEXT problem …
that will be SOLVED by incentivizing w/ MONEY too …
because you're dealing w/ HUMANS …
(selfish, manipulative and move for advantage)
😕
It is obvious to me that recycling is not working when there are states making laws making plastic shopping bags illegal in the state Pennsylvania is one
Funny that Matt says it was such a big surprise that our recycling was being sent to Malaysia and Indonesia where it may or may not be recycled since Canadian and Australian tv outlets has been been reporting on that fact for years which can easily be found on YouTube.
Alot folks feel too important for the Earth they roam……treating Earth like a 99 Honda Civic…..no money invested….no energy invested…..and then just given up on….🤦🤦👎👎
If you think anything is being recycled you're in denial. The "recycle" symbol on plastic isn't a recycling sign it's just a plastic identifier. The recycle logo is public domain as of a decade ago. 2% if that is recycled. We have to move into the stop of making new plastic.
I stopped recycling a decade ago once I found out most of the plastics never got recycled in the first place. Maybe aluminum and glass actually get recycled – but recycling plastic things is pretty much a joke.
It's all bad news when it comes to the truth behind recycling. We need to pressure manufacturers to remove plastic packaging.
Remove the cycling directory because they realized they can't, and won't. What a bunch of assholes.
An "individual responsibility" approach is wishful thinking, since the point of consumption is often too late to make a significant difference. Manufacturers and retailers will continue to force plastics into the system as long as they are not required/incentivized to use alternative materials.
Lol, recycling is a fantasy concocted by the rich to make themselves feel good.
Big deal! Tell the environment fruitcakes that planet earth is not gonna die!
Going woke is more important to them.
A few stores sell bulk that you can bring your own container for. You tare it and pay for the weight of the food. Sprouts is one.
I saw all this months ago. May have been the same team on a different platform.
Avoid plastics is better than recycling
The ironic thing is if you throw out a bottle in Denver, it gets buried in the ground. If you recycle it, it very may well be shipped to Indonesia and end up as trash in the ocean, causing way more environmental harm.
I reuse everything I can, because the men who come to pick up the recycling and trash, don't care what they are doing and I am tired of complaining about different issues with them, and nothing being done. So I have to take my plastic bags somewhere to be recycled, because if not my trash gets opened and put on the front lawn. But according to our county trash officials that is ok. So I don't want to hear about helping the environment, I do all I can already.

Its hard but we can improve, here's a way https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mukda6zOJcs
It's been shown and said for year's plastic dose not 🚫 get ♻️recycled itst just shipped to other countries, or burnt 🔥.
The only recycling that actually gets re used is Mettel.
Aluminum, cooper brass even gold and places pay for it give people cash money 💲 for it.
Plastic bags containers just have ♻️ labels to make people feel better and good, see 👀.
It is what it is.
The only way a person knows a pice of plastic is recycled ♻️ is to reuse it for your self.
Once it goes in to a bin and out of your hand Who Knows ware it ends up🤷🏻♀️.
Target… was targeted. They went to pushing trans sex to children to boost their ESG rating.
CRV cost on bottles and cans is all designed to be hidden money in California. Nobody knows the exact number they're raking in everyday.📡👽🇺🇸 RUN!!! City playbook 101. Secretly get money from the citizens for no reason.
People in California used to have those pickup trucks driving around and recycling everything with the cost of gas nobody's driving around cleaning up anyting. Nobody's putting any extra effort towards doing a damn thing.📡👽🇺🇸 RUN!!!
Of course it’s cheaper to make new plastic bags than to recycle the used bags… especially when the US is shipping the used bags 9500 miles to Asia and Indonesia. Ridiculous
We don't recycle plastic bags, we use them as trash bags.
Investigate raymond corporation. Lol pretty sure they dont recycle but claim green tax
