NBC News Chief Foreign Correspondent Richard Engel shared the heartbreaking news that his eldest son, 6-year-old Henry, has died. Richard and his wife, Mary, shared their journey publicly after Henry was diagnosed with Rett syndrome, a rare and incurable genetic condition. “We always surrounded him with love and he returned it, and so much more,” Richard wrote.

This is heartbreaking. What a beautiful child. I cannot imagine the pain felt by the parents. Thank you for raising awareness. May God grant the parents with patience and strength to bear this loss.
