It makes dumbed down people, 2020 is proof, a administration of unqualified idiots clear down to public school teachers.
Although I admire your sentiment, you are way off the mark. Being a small scale manufacturer of equipment for small farms, we are only able to source 22% of our parts and materials from domestic sources that actually manufacture and not relabel import parts as their own. That's just reality.
Remember NAFTA.

While America still make things, The percent of the economy attributed to manufacturing is gone way down. Indiana has the highest percent of its economy in manufacturing compared to other states. I believe its around 25 to 30% of its economy. That’s too bad because creating something like a water pump that costs $500 from a five dollar piece of metal is where wealth is created. When China is manufacturing something for us, guess who gets to keep the wealth? Oh sure Amazon can make billions from their 2% of the transactional profit but America looses everything else.
America makes ridiculousness every second.
We make everything we need. We do it everyday. Some of us are still outsourcing for important parts and small technical components, that's about it.
