The Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA), the union that represents American film and TV actors, announced plans for a strike beginning at midnight PDT Thursday, a work stoppage that will essentially bring most movie and TV production worldwide to a halt.
The announcement comes 12 hours after the contract between the union and the major studios expired without a new deal. Much of Hollywood has already shut down because of an ongoing writers strike that began May 2, but more productions would pause in an actors strike, from highly anticipated sequel films (“Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning – Part 2”) to new TV seasons (HBO’s “House of the Dragon”).

Don't care Hollywood is too woke. I stopped watching years ago and am better off for it. The movies ans TV shows are boring..
97% of these actors arnt even paid a living wage, and generally have work elsewhere too. Im glad their doing it. I hope hollywood falls.
Writers are striking because they don’t want to work “Gig to Gig”, showcasing how completely removed from the production working class they really are. Actors have some real issues, but SAG is a poorly managed organization that is extremely difficult for lower lower budget productions to work with and expensive and elitist for actors to gain entrance and representation from.
Neither Union showed any support for the I.A.T.S.E. membership who wanted to strike in 2021 over a return to long long hours and 10 year old pay rates. Radio silence in fact.
The DGA may represent “Directors” but most of its membership are set managers who work “on the ground” with production crews. That Union re-negotiates its contracts every 3 years and obtained all their goals plus a Covid bump for their membership, but clearly they were mindful of keeping their co-production workers in a job. Something that the WGA and SAG waves off like an annoying knat.
Sorry, dont care. Never heard the rich actors complaining about their own unfair pay for all these decades. Until they share the wealth too, dont wanna hear abour it
The universe is shutting down the overpaid people ..
Actors mustn’t join them, because what they are doing only replace AI sooner.
PS: these writers instead of these strikes must really really try to improve their quality of writing and write some better contents then some people wouldn’t come and dare question Hollywood.
Hollywood doesn’t deserve this.
Dear colleagues, No Strike !
As you delve into the realm of AI and engage in competition, remember that the world recognizes survival as the domain of the fittest. Reflect upon the past when street performers protested against screen productions without much concern for their livelihoods. Today, a similar pattern is emerging. Therefore, I urge you, dear strikers, to adapt and embrace new approaches, just as we did before, and avoid obstructing the ongoing progress of humanity.
Best regards,
LOL, Good please stay on strike nothing but GARBAGE comes from hell-e-wood, very little talent!!! TRUMP 2024!!! LETS GO BRANDON!
Nobody cares!! They are millionaires and it’s pathetic that they think they need more money!! Greedy jerks all of them!! I don’t give a crap about them
Yeah! Go on strike, please! You over paid children need to stop getting pay checks.
Then please move out of CA and take your writers with you!
PLEASE!
Basics SAG rate is $1,000 a day… The gall to say you're not making enough blows my mind!
I'm sure Margo Robby and mat Damon will be hit hard by this strike…😅😂
Uh ohhh
I had an experience with Motion Capture and voice acting and have to say these regular – traditonal – mainstream actors should not complain, to say the least. The disparities by default between the wages of (male) actors and the rest of the film crew are excruciating. I understand the writers who fight for royalty payments and sometimes have months between jobs. Even though gaming industry is a colossus these days, voice over actors and mo cap performers are not fully considered 'equal' talent as regular actors. PS. You almost saw me as Leon in the new Resident Evil games 🙂
All of Hollywood should strike permanently as it produces moral filth.
