Southwest Airlines apologized to customers after it announced it would cancel more than 2,500 flights with more major delays to come throughout the week. NBC News’ Blayne Alexander reports on travel delays throughout the nation and how airlines are dealing with the situation.

Too all you folks flying on the holiday, what did you expect! Did anyone look at the weather? I know everyone has plans, but not the airlines fault. But Pete Buttigieg is gonna get to the bottom of it. 👎
I have been a loyal customer to Southwest for over 10 years but this is the last draw with my son being stuck in Atlanta this holiday weekend due to this. It seems like they can only get early morning flights right now. Any flight that occurs in the evenings or late nights are all delayed nowadays regardless of weather. Unfortunately I have to find a more dependable airline. My business is going elsewhere.
If it was really the weather wouldn't the cancellations be uniform across all the major carriers? Flight Aware live tracking shows other carriers, including UPS, flying into areas where SW says the weather is causing cancellations.
Don't bail them out
Just ridiculous advertising book early but can't deliver for the 3 year in a row flight cancelled with no progress booked to come home early and flight still cancelled still missing work
This should be a story about SouthWest, but the female anchor worked very hard to pull attention away from them. I wonder why.

The problem with Southwest is that haven't invested in an updated schedule system. It wasn't the weather.
Go watch Died Suddenly and you'll know why there are so many cancellations.
Delays are expected during high volume and possibly weather conditions. Other airlines managed to get their passengers to their destinations in reasonable time, considering the conditions. This is beyond sub standard and unacceptable. SWA is the only airline being investigated by Department of Transportation. Bad leadership is the reason for the level of magnitude it’s reached.
It's sad that people go through the same stress and struggle of this pagan holiday year after year.

What a piece of garbage reporting. NBC – corporate mouthpiece for Southwest Airlines repeating talking points by the carrier. Where are the answers? Where is the truth? Where is the reporting that can HELP travelers. I regret watching this video.
Worst airline. They make Allegiant look terrific. Their computer system antiquated and not adequate for the size of their network. Plus, they only fly horrible Boeing 737's and their free-for-all seating sucks!
The scarest part of it is, maybe 10 % of people had masks on.
Don't fly in the middle of winter.
Of course Southwest is going to say it’s the weathers fault and was out of their control. If they have to admit fault due to staffing and poor planning then they’re on the hook for millions in reimbursements to customers for hotels, food, rental cars, etc. Better to just blame something else even though Delta, American, and United all found ways to get passengers to their destination dealing with the same weather related issues 🤦🏽♂️

My family postpones our holiday get-together until Jan 1st every year so that we don't put ourselves through this craziness. The presents are still under the tree, the tree is still green, we still Skype one another on Christmas day and the food tastes even better because we're not so exhausted from traveling that we can't appreciate it.

Yeah this weather is effecting people everywhere . Its even freezing at bidens open border, people have been given plastic blankets to try to stay warm, sleeping on floors and on the ground, and while the border agents are busy with all these illegals, fentanyl is streaming into America, killing 300 or more Americans everyday. To keep updated on this inhumane policy , you will have to watch a news source who isnt suppressing this disaster.
All you had to do was watch the news to find out this was likely. People are dumb.
I look at it this way, you may miss one Christmas with your family, but you're still alive. That's a win in my book.
