Term limits
This is not a mini stroke (no mouth drooping, word slurring) nor a TIA. Rather, the blank stare without eye movement is a symptom of PNES (Psychogenic Non-epileptic Seizure). He cannot control his staring, nor can he speak or move during the stare. However, during the stare, he can hear everything around him and has conscious awareness that he is “frozen” but cannot respond until the staring spell ends. He is not experiencing any pain. It is moments later that he begins to regain control but it leaves him with the feeling of being in a daze (intense brain fog) and unsteadiness (watch him hold onto the podium as he turns away). The blank stare occurred the moment that the lady in green touched him. She came from behind him and out of his view before reaching him and quickly touching him. Her touch triggered his staring spell because he was not expecting her to do this. Her touch caused a sudden startle response in him to mentally shut down momentarily. And that is exactly what happened… his subconscious takes over and mentality shuts him down instantly as a protection, due to him being on overload. He literally becomes incapacitated because he can not control his response to the trigger. (There can be many different triggers that bring on the staring spell. Anything that happens suddenly and without any warning, including a sudden touch and loud noises, can be triggers.) This symptom (along with other symptoms) can occur multiple times each day. Obviously, the man on his left, who spoke in his ear, had seen McConnell do this before. He did not seem surprised nor alarmed. In fact, none of them appeared surprised to see this occurring.
All of this can be a result of very intense, very extreme, prolonged, chronic stress that becomes manifested into physical symptoms as seen in this video. After the spell passes (sometimes can last several minutes) and the brain fog, unsteadiness, and weakness ends, he can resume his normal speech. Hence, the reason that he was able to walk back to his office (without a wheelchair) and return back to the podium shortly afterwards (see other videos). Hence, this is more evidence that this was not a stroke or TIA.
