A 619 pound marlin catch was disqualified from a fishing tournament after the hosts noticed that the fish had a shark bite. The catch garnered a first place win and a reward of $3.5 million before the disqualification. NBC’s Guad Venegas spoke to the captain.

This is stupid like that fish asked to get bitten by a shark and I doubt the fisherman trained a shark to bite and not eat it so the fisherman can catch them and if it wasn't an official tournament why should those rules apply

Let's not pretend to be unaware of this truly being due to the classified documents the fish was storing all throughout its school. Yes I'm well aware that Hunter bitin's son got off way too easy but I'm sure this is already hard enough on the crew already… wait i think i forgot which bad thing I'm mad about… i think I'll ask my oooh look a butterfly 🦋… Wow i completely just forgot what i was talking about.. Thats an important rule why would they give away a price because they didn’t read the rules and why invest so much money and not know, i call shenanigans on these fishermen, they want to win by cheating hoping a lawsuit will intimidate cause havoc and pay them, how nice.

When you enter a fishing tournament you have to sign a legally binding contract. It should have stated the rules pertaining to shark bites (which clearly didnt slow this monster down!).
What exactly is a lawyer going to do? The rule is that a shark bite is a disqualification. The fish had a shark bite. If they weren't aware the rule was in effect, that doesn't mean the rule shouldn't be applied.

That's b*******, they still had the biggest fish. They make those rules on purpose. Because of Marlin being brought up is definitely going to get attacked by a shark. There's no Doubt about it, so they make that rule, so they don't have to pay out the money. There's no way a shark going to turn down a huge Marlin In distress. And the fight takes so long for a big fish. Like that, it's going to get better. You can't not stop it from getting attacked, it's going to happen.

Probably needs to be specified when the bite occurred. If the bite is fresh- happened while reeling the fish in- it should be disqualified. If the bite has healed over as a result of wild predation and escape, it needs to be counted
Absolutely unjust decision , the fisherman caught the fish whilst conforming and achieving all hurdles to qualify for winner . He can’t be disqualified because of an unknown shark bite. That bite has nothing to do with the sport . If the bite had serendipitously given him an edge . against all other competitors ,that is the only factor that could disqualify him.
This entire thing is disgusting. Hunting animals for fun and sport while the ocean is overfished. This American it’s just about second of every single rich person in this country.
