You can see the man cranking the handle faster and faster as the shark gets closer and closer: in fact, it was just after the lure of your fishing rod. So, nothing surprising given the large population of tiger sharks in the Hawaiian Islands and the fact that you are fishing offshore: another dose of useless sensationalism from the media, all good at creating buzz!
If attacked by a large shark, the best thing to do is throw a large gas canister down its throat then later as your boat sinks, shoot it at the last second, blowing it up
