In other words, McCarthy got what he wanted from Santos in terms of becoming Speaker of the House, and passing the budget bill. Now he is free to throw Santos under the bus.
McCarthy will not bring the vote on the congressional floor to throw Santos out of Congress because he needs Santos's vote to stay in power.

The first lends itself to a more concrete “Yes” or “No” answer.
The second, which the reporter asked at 0:31 is less direct, will not necessarily lead to a “Yes” or “No” answer and leaves room for waffling and evasion. That didn’t happen in this particular case (mccarthy said he would NOT support santos in a bid for reelection…) – but it could have gone differently.
I’m not a (presumably well-paid) Capitol Hill reporter but I know a weak question when I hear it. From where, I wonder, did this reporter obtain her journalism degree? SMDH.
