President Lincoln cited Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness as his just cause for war. Notice that he cited the Freedoms of the Declaration of Independence, not the Fifth Amendment, which has Life, Liberty and Property. So, Nicky Hailey was right, that does mean more than slavery.
