The government cannot make money on deflation. Example, higher prices for a gallon of gasoline equats to higher tax revenues. Example, higher prices for housing equats to higher revenues from inflated taxes by your local government tax assessment. Example ,higher prices on housing equats to higher inflated insurance coverage premiums. Example,inflated home prices the mortgage rates increase the banks make out,not to mention that the banks have screwed over the depositor for ten years or more with interest rates at near zero but they managed to screw over the credit card holders for enormous amounts interest rates. Forbes is wrong in how to control inflation. Once the money supply has increased excessively and there is a general rise in the price level, then the growth in the money supply must be lessened. Reagan supported Paul Volcker who took the right actions to wring inflation out of our economy. There will have to be a correction because excessive funds went into particular sectors that created an overproduction in those industries.
