But NBC News’ Noah Pransky found the furiously fast change of curriculum and culture has both boosted enrollment and ostracized returning students who say they feel like political pawns.

If they lowered the academic thresholds to admit student athletes isn't that what conservatives said affirmative action was doing? So now the race based consideration has been replaced with faith based consideration? Did the conservatives not just go to the U.S. Supreme Court and say that students should be admitted based on merit and test scores? They eliminated DEI but isn't starting a sports program in a college that never had one a DEI initiative? That is quintessentially diversity and inclusion. Hypocrites.

You forgot to mention that they significantly lowered academic standards for the new recruits, and promised them free laptops, preferred housing, etc. A former admissions director resigned when they removed basic academic admission standards. This clip sounds like NBC is doing free advertising, not journalism.

This sort of thing happened in New Mexico when a jinky governor appointed a jinky politician as president of the university and that jinky politician proceeded to dismantle degree programs which led to students losing major ground in their educations.
Within less than a year, the jinky politician was indicted on charges of conspiracy, mail fraud and money laundering, eventually convicted, sentenced (when he bawled like a baby on camera claiming he didn’t know he was breaking laws because “everyone was doing it”) and imprisoned at ADX Florence federal penitentiary for 5 years.
So it’s possible DeSantis’ cohorts could meet similar fate.
Wow, I just watched another report on MSNBC that gave a lot more detail on the upsetting takeover of this college by Ron The Dictator. It included specifics and student/faculty interviews that demonstrate the negative impact of the new authoritarian administration. I feel so bad for those ppl.
