I can't comment on the merit of this study without a lot more detail, but I always am concerned of the potential danger in these kinds of stories. I've have mediated for over 50 years. It has given me great peace and made me a much more focused person. Most people who pursue it will not stay with it long, nor go very deep into the practice. So, casual "mindfulness" meditation seems harmless.
But serious meditation has a goal. Call it enlightenment if you like, but the truth you will discover is ultimately that there is nothing there. If you can reach the point where you can completely silence the noise in your head, it is not a deep spiritual secret that you find, but nothingness. There is no-one there. And that realization is, if you are prepared for it, liberating. But a lot of folks are not prepared for what they find and experience a "dark night of the soul" experience that they cannot always find their way back from. Meditation, when practiced deeply, is not a game.
I always tell people who ask me about meditation that I think, without a good teacher to lead you through the practice, that it is dangerous, especially if you are struggling with anxiety or other psychological problems when you start.
I think it is really risky using meditation to deal with issues like anxiety, and can't recommend it. YMMV

Anxiety is energy that should be burned/used.
Jon Kabat Zinn is highly recommended for learning Mindfulness and you can watch many YouTube course videos on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). In Ontario Canada a recommendation from your Doctor will provide free courses as well. π
They will likely start killing people in campgrounds, so careful of the pale crazys, that have been doing so.
A tent cost however much, good carriable quality. Extra socks, Extra shoes. Idk.

Nice nformation . To reduce stress and overthinking be careful what you feed your mind. Feed trash and trash will come out. Avoid comparing yourself with others, reduce watching negative social media and avoid constipation as it affects the mind. Your breathing is closely related to the brain [mind] and gives relief from stress-anxiety. For a relaxed mind observe the sensations of your natural incoming–outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for 10-15 minutes or more. You can sit anywhere or lay down–eyes open or closed–No deep breathing. Donβt fight your thoughts. Never meditate with expectations. Make it a lifetime habit to observe your breath day and night before sleep, when travelling, when reading, at the workplace etc, etc. Best wishes–Counsellor.
