Our concept and belief in checks and balances has already been up-ended by rogue judges, especially those who are appointed, & the practice of biased "judge hunting", which in turn removes power from the people and those who are their TRUE elected representatives. The simple fast judges are often appointed, is proof enough their power should be LESS than those we have elected to our various state Legislatures.
As I recall, Senators to Congress were in past appointed by state legislators, instead of by populist vote. The concept was the House for the people to send to it, and similar to the House of Lords in Britain, The Senate was sort of American version of similar, where those in power in each state, the Legislature took care of it. It was the idea of having a Republic with the lower House a Democracy, to create powwer balance between both the rich and the poor, so both would have a more just govt.
A power grab? Who saw that coming?
States run their own elections. It's in the constitution, its not just a theory. The main goal when this country was founded was to have strong state governments and and a weak central government. It was to keep the federal government from having too much power.
Who knows how the ayatollahs will vote on this one. Those 5 crazies arent real judges. They are conservative activists, and vote accordingly in many cases. Law and precedent be damned.

The Constitution STATES the Legislators have the POWER / position and right to change voting rules period. There's no Law or Judge and C19 (sickness / plandemic) can Stop / Halt or is Above the United States for America's Constitution . This establishment has ignored the legitimate writings from our United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights. States Rights, when was that a big thing, oh year, when Southern RED States wanted to keep Black Enslaved. No really, that was the 'moral' justification they used. None the less, the Feds get to decide on FEDERAL ELECTIONS probably as while our founders sold the entire country down the road to the Southern, RED, Slave states, they did draw the line at letting states decide say one has to be a white property owner to vote…. What NO ONE talks about is how the 'left', BLUE, liberal, northern states got any civil rights progress, any progress at anything from Red States – they bribed them. With Feds paying for local programs. Like instead of having a forced national indigent health plan, giving Red States billions ea to spend as they see fit, usually on bloated staffs and slaries of friends and family running the programs, as one example of 'block grants' being used as bribes. Paying for school services if schools integrate. Etc. Etc. With moscow mitch though, that ended. his access to 100's of millions over the years from Russia, he was able to directly bribe Red State con artists to vote no to everything not including pork to Red States or Money to the richest.
Feds could, if not for Moscow Mitches (a name coined in Texas after a news co esposed the $ tie between him and Kremlin.) get states to enact Federal Election laws by offering to pay for equip and staff to man elections and tally the vote, and say 'paying' for 'other' 'costs' states wanted to 'spend' in addition to that via 'block grants' Red States would use to staff up elections agency where all the money went to well connected staff.

Typical overreacting by MSM. Just like the legislation putting abortion bans in place; the public can draft a petition to ammend the state constitution which will override the state legislation.
