Maybe they should change how they treat all children in the system instead of being racist. They should stop taking children from their families and do a better job at protecting the communities. If they quit using false accusations to kidnap children from safe homes things would be better for everyone. I am very glad this has been approved. It's the beginning of possible change. The whole system needs to change not just one part though. Racism has no color, it's driven by ignorance and hate. It should be illegal to be racist because it's dangerous and damaging. It doesn't help our society to grow and develop. This is why Donald Trump was able to abuse people and the united states. There are no laws to protect people from hate and racism. This should have been happening from the beginning. Also, this isn't going to stop the problem. Changing the corrupt people who are leading the system needs to happen so they can't corrupt it. Training people to do the right thing and be productive human beings needs to happen. The law can't help if the people behind the system are not following it. I am hoping that the republicans won't be able to damage this like they damaged everything else that is good for the people. I want to see bigger changes in the system that helps the whole community.

So they can raise a bunch of drunks, but the state has no problem taking everyone else's kids, including if you refuse to maim your child or pump them full of hormones – classy.
The most important thing is ensuring that the child gets good parents. If good parents are willing and available within the tribe then they should assuredly be given preference. I just hope that this doesn't result in many situations where kids end up with bad adoptive parents as the cost of staying within the tribe. I was adopted at birth by fantastic parents. It would have been great to grow up within the tribe but if I had had to do so at the expense of dealing with bad parenting I would be pretty upset as an adult. Work to keep kids within the tribe, but don't do anything they they will live to regret. And try to be accepting of those kids who were adopted out that find out their tribal origins as adults.
The Supreme Court did the right thing. I am not Native American. I am an American well versed on the atrocities our forefathers committed against the Native Americans. This is one small step in the right direction.
