Interesting. I wonder if this could have been anticipated. I won't point the finger at authorities or call for a surveillance state as many people do, because the truth is that they can't be everywhere at once.
Here is what few people understand: when somebody makes threats of violence in speech, on the internet (unless they are trolling, which is difficult to determine unless you track trends in online behavior), or in physical actions… it is clear that they should never have access to weapons and are ill-disposed for any number of reasons. Mental health issues, developmental issues, prior mistreatment or abuse, a distorted view of the world by living in an ideological echo chamber (these people exist everywhere on the extremes of whatever spectrum you choose to look at – political, religious, etc)… it doesn't matter what the reasons are, only that we have repeatedly seen that not enough is done to address them.
As an owner of firearms and as a Second Amendment supporter – for the record – I firmly believe that individuals who have expressed violent tendencies towards others in the past or have prior violent offenses (especially in adult life) are most often entirely ignored, ostracize themselves, or have been ostracized. I know very few well-adjusted people who would ever threaten to set off bombs or harm their own mothers. People can call it terrorism if they want, and use the phrase for political clout… they still aren't asking the right questions.

Factions spurn wars and create filibusters, the common global threat, that overshadow the common global solution, proportional equity for all without which the Constitution's most basic common global element, "protection from abuse," cannot be satisfied without which people cannot see enough value in the environment or life itself to save.
