Troubling thing about this potential war is how close China is to resupply. The massive manufacturing capability they will have direct access to being logistically close. The Philippines have shown great patience and diplomatic efforts in trying to resolve the disputes and claims in the South China Sea issue with China. However, despite the Philippines' willingness to engage in diplomatic talks and even going against their national interest, China's expansionist policies in the region continue to escalate. This has resulted in over 200 diplomatic protests filed by the Philippines to China, which have unfortunately fallen on deaf ears. Not only has the Philippines been affected by China's actions, but other countries like Brunei, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, and India have also experienced China's aggressive stance. Even Singapore, Cambodia, and Thailand have expressed concerns over China's actions.
In light of these developments, the recent discussions between China and the Philippines over the US's new EDCA sites and China's laser shooting at the Philippine Coast Guard ship are just minor issues. The real issue is China's continued expansionist policies in the region, which have threatened the sovereignty and security of the Philippines and other countries. It is imperative that the international community takes a strong stance against China's aggressive actions and support the Philippines and other affected countries in upholding their sovereignty and territorial integrity.
