Most teachers DO have an agenda and they push hard until there is an objection. Liberal teachers are a threat to our children's learning the basic's such as math, reading and writing and science. History is being twisted and I refused to teach this agenda, I wanted to teach true history. I taught history and wanted the students to understand our history, use common sense and critical thinking. You can not teach history without politics because that is what history is But critical thinking is extremely important on this subject. The biggest thing I objected to in school was teaching student's how to protest.
I don’t get it. Why do we care what a YouTube channel has to say about public education, enough to imply it is allowed this platform? It doesn’t, anymore than any other politicized channel would.
Also, and this is just my own curiosity: what’s the academic rationale to aligning and teaching history under the idea of American Exceptionalism? It’s that literally indoctrination?
I’m not a left wing Marxist, I don’t like being called the radical left. Nothing will radicalize people like calling them names.
They’re hitting talking points but without proper time this conversation seems rushed. On the topic of math and curriculum evolving, I think math is the wrong example. That’s the one that should be most consistent especially at the High School levels. Overall if the school systems were less “progressive” towards ideology and more progressive towards technology and embracing something like YouTube, they will eventually be left behind.
the superintendent is a right wing extremist. fully and proudly. if you are in school in Oklahoma-this man is leading your public schools. you are in trouble. he is attempting to normalize the right-wing's indoctrination to make America a christian nationalist nation ONLY. and if you are not a christian nationalist/white supremacy person-they do not want you. you will not be welcome there. they will do everything they can rid themselves of you. keep watching. speak out now. he is referencing all sorts of boogeyman that do not exist. they are using fear to prey on people to do what they want. he keeps being asked proof of things that he does to have. he does not evidence to back up all the claims he is making. he is fear-mongering. that is all. to be honest, I don't know and can't tell what he actually believes. but he is making claims that are not true. period.

In Marxian economics you learn dialectical materialism and primitive accumulation. The idea that nothing is stagnant and prone to change given the ebb and flow of time and the fertile conditions.
There was a time when I grew up where teachers were respected for their knowledge of the subjects they taught guided by the school curriculum. Teachers, often college trained, gave parents the confidence that their children would be well educated after twelve years of schooling. School should be a place to freely learn about everything. Public school curriculum should not be privatized by some right wing company with dubious credentials. I never looked at my education as being right wing or left wing. It gave a good foundation in natural sciences, social sciences and the humanities. Why would you want to change that? Francesca Tripodi is right on the money.

This guy doesn't qualify to teach anything with this manifest nonsense. Read Thomas Paine's Age of Reason. Read the Treaty of Tripoli, Read the Jefferson Bible–for goodness sake read the constitution of the United States. Our founders, many of whom were deists and not Christians, set up a secular state–this is true whether you like it or not.

My problem with this Ryan Walters guy is that his answers to questions are him TELLING YOU a description of what you've seen or heard. How does he know what anyone else has seen or heard? He doesn't present EVIDENCE backing up his statements. It's HIM deciding that whatever is said by the teachers' unions is "left-wing" or "Marxist", yet he gives no examples. Even still, had he given an example, he's unable to demonstrate a wide-spread effort toward an extreme left agenda in the schools. He's also being deliberate using dog-whistle wording in order to shut down the critical thinking ability of any possible far-right listener/viewer.
I also find it interesting that he repeatedly says that we should be teaching kids "what makes America great."
It's pretty apparent to me why he's using that phrasing, but I could be wrong.
What I do know is…the good/great should be taught, but so should the not-so-good/bad.
It is the lack of knowledge about events, laws and circumstances that cause people from different environments in America to lack empathy and dehumanize those who don't look like or act like them.
