As schools prepare to reopen, districts nationwide are scrambling to find teachers. More than 600,000 educators have quit over the last two years. Many schools are desperate to fill a gap caused by a surge in teacher retirements. From extending work hours to little financial growth and even students showing academic and behavioral issues, NBC News’ Rehema Ellis speaks to some of these educators to find out why they quit.

And there's also the rest of the staff in schools aside from administration and teachers who work for way less money and are expected to pick up the left over pieces and put up with a lot more disrespect. People often forget they even exist.
What about infusing the Christian Nationalist agenda into the schools teaching history and downplaying things such as slavery. It makes it impossible for the teachers to do their jobs…educate.
Great teachers are leaving in droves. More & more of the ones left behind are pushing their personal ideology onto students, instead of actually teaching reading, writing, history, mathematics, and other critical knowledge. Brainwashing in the flesh.
Shooting in schools, everyone hates you, parents and kids are disrespectful. Oh well. Time to move on
They pay any and all online creators far more than any teacher could dream of making. Thats government offering tax cuts for companies that pay individuals on lame as content most of the time. Cos everyone would rather be happy than educated.
They should go to construction and have a boss yell at them all day in all weather conditions 10-12 hours a day 5-6 days a week.
The kids are monsters.
The parents don't raise them better.

The way these 'children' behave, they do not deserve to be educated.

Tiktokers twerking are making more money than teachers. Why is that? Is our country too rigged? Is that why? When will they change the wages now that gas prices and inflation is getting higher?

Post-covid there are many fights in urban schools. Suburban schools are no better, classes trashed from student tantrums, and teachers sustaining injuries after getting attacked or bit by students or hit by furniture.
We should pay our teachers better and be kind to them. They are humans too navigating the pendemic with little help.
I have a lot of teachers friend that moved overseas and are appreciated more both financially and respectfully. They could tutors outside of class if they want more money. They could grow and become a owner of a tutoring school, some become internet celebs for their personality. That’s why they moved tf out of here.
That’s a shame.

We can only blame ourselves and our greed for attention that has led us to this day and age. All these new social media's, video games, music, movies, shows has all been a distraction. And is the leading cause of why these kids are doing these things. These kids don't know any better. They don't know anything about self discipline. For every action there's a reaction.
As long as it's the teachers pushing CRT and trans bs that are leaving, I'm ok with this.

I love my country dearly, and it's hard to admit it, but America is quite literally doomed to collapse. I suppose I'm glad I don't have children, because it's the next few generations that will suffer the horrors that our nation collapsing will unleash.

The only thing that can possibly allow public education to continue is to for students to be on laptops more. It is an impossible job to do without debilitating stress. Disrespectful kids and parents are a BIG reason why teaching is so miserable.
From a long family history of educators, teaching has changed from a respected profession to a job fewer individuals care to do.

This country has failed teachers. Not just political officials but the ridiculous parents that think teachers don't deserve to be respected. They have betrayed the educators of this country that are essential to the country's growth. They deserve so much better. They're the ones that take care of your badass kids for the majority of the day. They don't deserve this kind of treatment
Pandemic was such a hard hit to things taht did NOT need to social distance. Schools didn't need it small businesses didn't need it. Most places didn't need it.
on top of that CRT, wokness, transgender polrics, anti-colonialism, touchy feely practices all damaged teaching.
It all went down hill when teachers got told they couldn't discipline students because 'It wasn't nice" then they got told "you can't give students grades" then they got told "Math has no wrong answer" and then more and more regulations and skills were needed just to do the job, then people started to poke in to teachers privet lives , there were pushes to stop having summer vacation its just been one bad decision after an other.
not much better for small business owners, book writers, public speakers, truck divers, bus drivers, the police a long list of things
then on top of that people have to make a big deal over MAGA hats, Pink Ribbons, Shaved Heads, free lunches, offensive t-shirts its crazy.
You can blame money, but that's not the issue. Stressful jobs are stressful regardless. My Mom was a teacher and she got paid way less then public school teachers. She did the job for the kids. But there was consent issues with short tempered parents who believed there kids could never do wrong, issues with not being aloud to discipline kids for fear the school would lose money, being asked to teach Spanish when she her self didn't know Spanish etc
Schools in the past were not perfect either but you could at least give detentions and Fs and call kids losers and make fat kids do gym class.
Now Pizza is a vegetable , the food Pyromid has been tossed out, fat kids can play video games in place of gym, dodge ball is gone, so many things are changed from how it used to be,

The system has turned public education into a customer service approach. The student is now viewed as the customer to the teacher. The system needs to realize that public education has never been a customer service nor should it be. It is a client service. What is the difference? The teacher is an education professional that provides a service and may even tell your child (and parent) what is best despite it hurting your feelings. The teacher is not there to serve the student or the parents' every preference and request. Furthermore, there is ever increasing pressure to pass virtually every student. It has become increasingly politically incorrect for a teacher to give a student a failing grade. I could go on and on but I'm not going to ramble.
