I predict default will sink the republican party. The debt ceiling gets raised each time for a couple of reasons. First, it's unconstitutional, and second, it's bad for our economy. In a dark way, I hope the republicans do not pass a clean debt ceiling. Let them bury themselves in their own graves.
We're finally getting the demand side fiscal policy we've needed to compliment massive zero interest rate supply side monetary policy since 2008. This allows the Fed to come off the zero bound and return to a normal, pre 2008 policy stance. And now we want to detail that progress?
Fiscal spending should offset job losses caused by higher borrowing costs, but like 2011 it seems the republicans will have none of that. I believe the politicians know this. The rest is rhetoric for the common folk. Don't be surprised if they balk and claim victory.

Something i learned about government budgets. If the department gets a budget of $5 million and only spend $4 million, then next year you only get $4 million. So they spend every penny of it so they can ask for more
