After receiving a full body cosmetic procedure in Matamoros, Mexico, a woman was hospitalized for fungal meningitis, a rare infection that targets the brain and spinal cord. Several other cases of the infection have been tied to clinics in Matamoros, including four Americans who died. NBC News’ Ellison Barber has more.

I wouldn’t wish this on anybody but do they ever stop to think beforehand of what if it goes wrong and my kids are left without a mother. As a parent it’s what stops me ever wanting any cosmetic procedure. I’d rather be un-maimed and alive to enjoy my family than this awful outcome. You can still change things you don’t like about yourself without paying someone in a scruffy place to cut into you. Mama’s its not worth the incredible risk!
