British pop rock band The 1975 announced on Sunday it was canceling its shows in Jakarta and Taipei after the Malaysian government cut short a music festival in the wake of the band’s lead singer slamming the country’s anti-gay laws and kissing a male bandmate during their performance.

The 1975 was scheduled to have a performance at We The Fest, Indonesia’s annual summer music festival, in Jakarta on Sunday night, part of their 2023 Asia tour.

  5. Sometimes, this is what you have to do when your music sux😂😂😂❤

  6. The 1975 got banned from Malaysia

  7. I think he is anti LGBT. Why else would he kept giving us ammo to shoot the community with? At the end of the day, nothing changes not the law, nor society. Because majority of people living in Malaysia do not support it. We are religious and conservative.

  8. "When in Rome do as romans do"
When visiting a foreign country, follow the customs of those who live in it

  9. Always drunk never sober.

  10. He appeared to be drunk, broke a drone of the organizers, cursed on stage, spoke disrespectfully, attacked the government with a performative self centered pro lgbtq rant (which negatively impacts Malaysians of that community), then kisses a guy in a predominantly Muslim, conservative leaning country. The kiss was one of many things he did to f up the night for many. What a dick. What’s next for his sh*t show life/career? I loved the 1975 but seems like he’s past the point of no return with his vices and can’t get a grip.

  11. This is beyond of toleration, imagine if every lgbt dude have this mindset after every support we gave to them. Its just worsen the world than where we are now.

  12. Mereka menghina tuhan yang telah menciptakan pria dan wanita

  13. I don't care if someone is lgbt or just support them, it's important to do "When in Rome do as romans do"

  14. Sick attitude. 🤮🤮🤮

  17. White supremacy at its worst

  18. "" you young people are gay progressive and yada yada " wtf with that catchphrase and make it more disgusting when the audience just screaming for that sarcasm and they yell bring them back bring them back after the band told the audience they just got banned. Both the band and audience are disgusting ape

  19. Sad,as long as your a good person , seriously who cares what turns you on.female ,male. I'm not to judge 🙏

  20. Lgbtq+ people pay taxes that fund schools, infrastructure, police and national defense just like everyone else.

There are a few loud activists, some of which do the wrong thing for a just cause, in this case, promoting equal rights. Local gay people should not be discriminated against because of the acts of a foreigner.

Gay people have always existed and always will. Holding generalized hatred for them is a pointless waste of energy.

Try to spread optimism and positivity.

  21. Being English but of Malaysian decent, I was so angry at this tool for disrespecting my motherland. I am glad even the LGBT community of Malaysia are not happy with him. Not every country has the same rules or laws, but you still have to abide by them.

  22. White_savior_complex.webm

  23. This honestly does nothing good for the LGBTQ communities in Malaysia, it brings more tense to the already homophobic place :/ they can leave the country and forget about this but the communities will probably be the target

  24. We are in Malaysia and just did a video about this

  25. States have always regulated who people can have sex with. The age of consent and incest are regulated in all states. It is prudent to obey the laws of the state you are in and Malaysia is a democracy with a right to it own laws.

  26. That is not the 1975 at the very end snippet, I have no idea who tf those guys were. USA TODAY, please have standards and consistency in your videos, thanks.

  27. respect other country especially you just guess there

  28. They come to foreign country and expect the country to do nothing after he disrespect the rules of the country and cause problems…let's see if he can actually live a long life after making so much controversy like John Lennon

  29. Malaysia has atrocious human rights violations, a lady got denied help at a police station cause her knees were showing.. Matty Healy is brave to bring such inequalities to light as Malaysians themselves r banned for doing so!

  30. My respect to Malaysia went 📈 <– going up beyond the chart!

  31. disgusting. kiss a same gender to prove human right

  32. Anti-gay laws that came from British Colonialism. Lol.

  33. Most of gay has that attitude
