Our whole world is corrupt. It isn’t surprising.
EU does not collect taxes. There is no EU tax that anybody pays. But the gov does send money to EU, but for 20 years Danmark was so far behind that EU sent money to us.
Danmark entered the EU in 1973 after a referendum. The next 20 years there would have been a referendum if power was to be handed over to EU and the resistance from the left was massive. I was all for EU when it was just a common market. It was a great oppotunity for making trade easier. We have barely voted since 1993 and since then EU now just gets the authority it desires and it grows and grows. Now because of the social dimension that we never voted for being part of and more even the futhest left has fallen almost unconditionally in love with EU and the resistance is on the right. I turned on EU about 7 years ago when they ruined our maternity leave throygh a reform that out national parliament just rejected.
EU does no longer look like it is awarded authority according to the will of the people, but is as seen with the maternity leave reform now a super national institution and my contempt for that institution grows almost daily. I was one of the most eager supporters. Now EU is even an active player in the Ukraine war. Recently a defense dimension was added and we are moving very likely moving closer to having an EU army.
They are trying to hype a false european identity that never existed and I suppose to somehow suddenly feel European. I never felt European. Noone ever really did. Growing up half of Europe was the enemy. I feel Danish. I have more in common with an American than a Romanian, but it will be the Romanians and Bulgarians governing me. I think it is evident that EU now step by step and uncontested just is awarded the authorities its constant new ideas needs, totally independent of what the people think. Usually they are not even told. Fortunately Danmark dodged the Euro and kept our own currency. That saved us billions during the recession.
I don´t really see it as corrupt in particular. I see it as an uncontested growing hell that limits national self governing and no plan exist for where or how far it can go. I don´t believe any limit exist to what authority can be handed over to EU

I just wanted a common market and I still do. I never wanted an army or a social dimension. Being on the top of the food chain common standards means lower standards and though EU does not always make limits to how high wages for something can and not not just lower, there reforms comes in the backdoor. There will be plenty of people in the unions with interting stories to tell. One example is how truck drivers from Poland suddenly push out the danes or lower their wages.
EU is the new darling of the elitist left or the progs as you would call them, because they can make enviromental and climate reforms. Recently plastic straws and other use and throw away platic items was banned in the EU. Danmark could have made a veto but it of course did not.
Corruption is not my concern with EU. My concern is how much power it will take from our national parliament. The left suddenly forgot all they protested and now is in it to fight for the poor in eastern Europe and I am all for that, if it did not mean lower standards in Danmark.

As a Finnish guy, and hence under the EU, against which I voted in the referendum, I can assure that the European Union is as bad and corrupt as anyone could imagine. Lies, stealing, all kind of corruption and manipulation. In a slightly different form than in US, but it is abundand and everywhere. EU always told what they are NOT going to be or do in the future, and the next day they are and do IT + more. EU is communism in slightly different form, it´s not a coincidence that WEF´s Schwab is a German. We can only vote for EU-parliament members, who have NO power unless they´re corrupt and given power by unelected, failed ex-politicians.
