A tired college kid who's probably been drinking, frequently leaves cell phone in car, or outside bedroom. Then petrified by fear,she waited until morning. I believe she had a single room, no roommate to talk to.

The year of the car was probably given slightly off to relax the suspect. The route taken was the longest. The shorter route was more north I80 thru Chicago area. Lots of details will come out – !
