Expansion of NATO poses threat to the Russian national security the same way as it was the case with US after the deployment of Russian missiles in Cuba. Putin won't let it happen. Joining NATO is a long process. Putin already had warned Ukraine not to join NATO but it was Zelensky's stubbornness . If any country try to join NATO in the Russian neighborhood, it will be attacked before the process gets completed. Zelensky knew this and he still waged a war with Russia hoping that the West would fight from his side. That's why, Zelensky's decision of waging war is not an act of bravery but sheer foolishness. Russia never had the intension of invasion but it was the WEST which kept expanding NATO and finally reached the doors of Russia. When the time came to fight alongside Ukraine, the West pull out their hands and promised only to impose Sanctions and provide arms further fuelling the crisis. At least now , Zelensky must understand that Ukraine was only a card to provoke PUTIN. US never fight on its land but wherever it lands , it destroys the culture , traditions and beauty of that country whether it be Syria, Afghanistan, Vietnam , Iraq and many others .
