If we all had firearms and respect for them I'm pretty sure these "mass shootings" wouldn't exist. They would be phased out as the people trying to do so would be taken out in the process hopefully before anyone dies. The mindset of "the cops will save me" is what is getting people killed. I believe law abiding, sane citizens should be able to own firearms.
I believe the sale of "ghost gun" kits should be illegal.
I believe background checks should include: psych evaluations and criminal history.
I believe owning a gun should be a PRIVLEDGE, not a RIGHT. And the 2nd Amendment should be re-written to reflect the privledge idea, rather than it being a RIGHT.

A ban on "assault weapons" wouldn't change a thing save leave the citizenry more vulnerable to their government in time. An evil person could just use handguns, a truck, shotgun, or all manner of other lethal tools to commit a crime. That's the truth.
The real problem is the human heart. Advocate good parenting, responsible living, limitation on prescribed psychoactive drugs etc. Those are real solutions that get at the root, not feel good gun bans which only leave the law abiding more vulnerable.
The gun culture is a bunch of men who are over compensating for insecurities about their masculinity. This need by men to appear "tough" or to intimidate others by owning or carrying a gun has caused millions of gun deaths.
