Nuclear power may not be the cleanest. The "light water" reactors used in the US require that the Uranium fuel be enriched (this was done on purpose, to provide cover for enriching Uranium for weapons). Enriching nuclear fuel requires a LOT of energy! And the used fuel can be recycled, but President Peanut Farmer decided to forbid this. There has been, for at least 50 years, a fully constructed nuclear fuel recycling plant near Morris, Illinois, that has never been used. Retired nuclear engineer here.
