Historically, once inflation has gotten above 5% it has never come back down without the Fed funds rate being raised above the CPI. Inflation is created by the government/fed, by both shutting down the economy thus reducing output & massively increasing the money supply. Flooding the money supply without increased production reduces demand for dollars causing real inflation.
