We were energy independent when the economy was shut down of because of Trump's failure early on in the pandemic. As a result of the shutdown drilling for new oil in this country all but stopped. Fortunately, the oil drilling industry is rebounding, albeit, slowly. When we get back to drilling for oil as much as we did before the shutdown, things will level out.
