I don't get it. Were they not being paid at least minimum wage?
If you want to make a million dollars in the restaurant business,
…you gotta start with a couple million.
This is expected but you’re saying it like you’re panicking
Why is the service charge or tip BEFORE the taxes, it's not labor. Your being taxed twice?
Restaurants will close and leave if they are FORCED.
I always give cash tips. That way the waitress or waiter does not have to pay taxes on my gift to them..
Yo Tapper just say Biden is killing the restaurant business, just like he is killing america. We know , we all know
Ahhh, bidenomics.
The food and beverage business is the only one that requires its customers to directly paid their employees who serve them. It's about time these businesses actually start paying their employees instead of relying on their customers to directly do it.
The minimum wage was raised in Berkeley, Ca. years ago and the result was the closing of their 2 biggest restaurants Spenger's and His Lordship's. Learn nothing from past mistakes and ruin economies. I have not eaten in Berkeley since. I was a regular at Spenger's Seafood and an occasional at His Lordship's Buffet even though I no longer lived in the Bay Area. They were great places to meet friends when passing through or visiting. Berkeley is now a dumpster fire only good for doing homeless surveys and collecting crime statistics.
Tips are de facto sales commissions. It helps guage if your server is pushing the higher margin products (appetizers, specials, desserts, and cocktails) and providing a better experience for customers.
Latinos with trump 24”we need trump back,
My local subway said it's not taking coupons anymore so that was the last time I went there. $7 for a garbage sandwich…lol
This was avoidable…
All that needed to happen was the election could have been above board and honestly accurately accounted and this is what we got… FAILURE on a Grand scale
If they raise wages, OK as long as they don't raise food prices. And expect a smaller tip also. A tip that is more in line with 15% to 20% of what food used to cost before inflation.
Money is an issue that everyone has for a better and luxurious life, life was hard for me until I started trading on crypto and am now earning $10,000 per week.
This is a good piece..
Oh no! No happy hour!!! What is the world coming to? We are in trouble definitely.
Lol all theses comments prob are from you know who voters lol happy now 😂now you can stay home
Where is the assistance for America from all of these foreign countries that the US are supporting ???🙏🇺🇸
Plus the new standard on paying your bill is to start with 20% tip spanning to 33% tip as suggestions over 15%.
That means at least a 20% increase in prices, which means a lot of people will stop going out to eat. We are about three to four months away from a 5-9% increase in the unemployment numbers.
FJB….Thanks Democratic party
Does anyone stop to think the current Biden/Obama Administration is purposely destroying our way of life as they make disruption in the freedoms and liberty in everything we have enjoyed?
New York state has had the same minimum wage for tipped workers, than everyone else, for quite some time…
I would love to see fox admit that corporations are the root of inflation and our income inequality, not the government.
It is very unhelpful for a network to blame government for that which is the responsibility of corporation shareholders.
Shareholders dividends must always be growing by law. That’s the root of most inflation. It frustrates me that this network ignores that so dutifully.
Corporations have used personhood over the course of my lifetime to change laws meant to protect human beings to instead protect corporate shareholder dividends.
That is something this network fails to include in any of its programming. I wish more watchers of fox would be curious and research what I’m saying.
Have a great day
Wait let me guess . Joe Bidens fault.. no its all the democratic parties fault
Tips are none of an employer's business.
Happy our? LOL – NYshitty is empty by 6PM. Good job DEMS.
Then there will be no tips for the employees – they will be owned by the house. I owned a tavern – and that is exactly what will happen. They will make less. Period.
Crushed by labor?? Chronic underpaying of employees with no benefits
If you have observed….banks have financed big business to the point of eliminating small ones. The mom n pop family owned business is under attack.
Folks can’t enjoy going out to drink and eat if they only make 15 or 20 bucks hour after tax’s and expenses we are broke and wait for the next payday so we can continue paying bills and being broke again and again better off collecting government assistance and work off the books.
Everyone except politicians are getting crushed by inflation. The government is the only one that profits from it. Most prices never go back down you can’t reverse labor
Between additional seating charges, government fees and the obligatory tips (starting at 18% on the tablet screens), I have reduced how many times I eat out and rarely invite any number of people that will trigger fees……. Even takeaway dinners are expensive but usually, don’t include so many additional fees. It’s sad….. eating out isn’t as fun as it used to be
It works in Washington. Restaurants pay min wage and can't include tips. Min wage goes up in January to over 16.00 bucks an hour . And prices are about the same as where they pay less and add tip into their wages to make up for the difference in different states
Government needs to be cut 40% across the board.
you can thank dimentia joe for that …
