I only line the idea of a 3rd candidate if a run-off election came after for the two highest vote getters.
In 1992 Bill Clinton won with 43% of the vote – against Bush Sr. and Ross Perot, and that is the problem with a 3rd candidate….a distinct possibility of a large majority of Americans not voting for them.
