‘This place sucks’: Sen. Joe Manchin considered leaving the Senate as early as 2018

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) announced this month that he would not seek re-election to the Senate, instead telling Kristen Welker that he isn’t ruling out a presidential run in 2024. The last time his seat was up, in 2018, Manchin told Meet the Press that he’d considered leaving Congress but ran for re-election because he thought he could “contribute to bringing people together.”

  1. TRUMP 2024 … LOVE IT !!!

  2. What politician isn't making things better for themselves 😅

  3. The place “sucks” but he’s part of it. Good Riddance.

  4. SPOILER ALERT: Joe Manchin is the Biggest SPOILER in Congress since i've been paying attention! He couldn't even bring himself to vote to raise the Minimum Wage to $15 lousy Dollars an HOUR! Just curious JoeM, what exactly is YOUR idea of a "Center?" Because the Pendulum didn't swing , but the FULCRUM did. What used to perhaps be considered 'far right,' is now more like Left of Center – Right. And Biden is hardly too far "LEFT!" In fact, were it not for the amazing CPC of the House, also called – THE SQUAD, he wouldn't have even pushed for & received nearly as much as we did! You have NO BASE meanchin, so buzz off & out! If you stay in, does that mean you would be just fine for that fascist trump, to get back in? nevermind, rhetorical.

  5. WV will have a party when hes gone🎉

  6. WV glad he's retiring as Senate.Manchin into hydro with Gates which took are funding to do it and is CEO over it He thinks he'll get more money. He already made known he's not a talker and wouldn't run as President. We're not crying .We need someone who will help the people not to line their pockets and lie to us and belittle WV people.Only way Manchin and Justice gets voted in their the only ones on the ballet. They both buy the land for their purpose. Manchin wouldn't make it as President he's weak himself and knows it. WV votes for Trump

  7. I’m so sick of Joe Manchin. Attention seeking at best. Go away!

  8. Progressives live in a Bizarro world. They're on here blaming Manchin for Trump leading in the polls, when the ONLY reason Trump's ahead is, the radical progressives aren't voting for Biden. What planet are these progressives on?

  9. The one thing Manchin is trying to do is get the progressives to come after him. Like Bernie and Markey in the senate. And the Squad, and other far left progressives in the house. None of them have ever passed even one bill they originated. In over 2 decades, Bernie is a total failure. Not one bill. Just under Biden's term, Manchin sponsored these bipartisan bills: Infrastructure bill, Inflation Reduction Act, CHIPS. And that's just this session. He wants to show the comparison. Also, the radical right. The Freedom Caucus. Nothing. Radicals like Cruz, Paul,. Mike Lee. Nothing. Don't underestimate No Labels

  10. No Labels is definately going to enter the race. And it looks like Manchin and Larry Hogan. But most likely Hogan on top, and Manchin as VP.

  11. Manchin and Sinema both did everything they could to interfere with the Democratic agenda. Good riddance DINO.

  12. He would have no chance against Bernie Sanders or Robert Kennedy Jr.

  13. He's done more to ruin Biden's chances of winning in 2024 than anyone in Washington other than Sinema, both traitors to their party and to the betterment of all Americans!

  14. He thought he could fix Congress, as one of the most unpopular senators in the country who constantly supported the opposition position of the majority of Americans, a truly radical position…not a centrist one.

  15. This guy only makes statements approved by his constellation of donors. On all other matters, he chaffs and redirects.

  16. Go home Joe Manchin!! Do you want some cheese with that whine?

  17. Manchin should have switched parties and ran for reelection as a republican

  18. A Democrat acting like a Republican. The poor goobers of WVA love him even though they live in poverty while he has a yacht and fancy sports car, laughing all the way to the bank.

  19. All I hear is someone complaining that he actually has to do the job he was elected to do, in the place he was elected to do it. Yeah Joe, we all know you wished you could just put your feet up at your mansion and watch the coal lobbyist money come in, but sometimes we all have to go in to the office to work.

  20. Manchin complains like he wasn't a sell out who created his own problems. Can't wait to see him gone.

  21. Wish he did leave. Made it worse

  22. What is wrong with all these politicians? Manchin is 76, Biden 80, Trump 77, McConnell 81, Pelosi 83, jeez retire already and spend the few years you have left with your families. Take your grandchildren fishing or to the park or Chuck E. Cheese or something. My lunch pail will be at my yard sale when I'm 62.

  23. A Very corrupt man! He is a sellout for butt Trump(et)!

  24. 🔍👈😁It's a bluewave 🌊, just watch 👀

  25. Manchin is the king of sell-outs. Dolla Dolla bill y'all
