I work in fire prevention. It's so hard to get people to take it seriously. I feel very sorry for these people, but it takes an event of this magnitude for people to see the light on how quickly a fire can overtake multiple buildings. This event will bring about meaningful changes to fire code hopefully. Most changes to fire code over that last ten years have been relaxing code instead of looking for new methods to stop fire from spreading. I really hoped that the condo fire a number of years ago that killed a bunch of college kids would have caused a meaningful change to require sprinklers at least in new construction of condos. No the rich fought that tooth and nail, and as a result, new condos are still being built without them. It's disturbing.
