The body still produces sickle cells, it doesn't flip the dna position that produces the sickle cell (apparently they can't do that reliably, not exactly an endorsement for crispr). All they do is raise amounts of a different blood cell the body already produces (and that can be done with vitamin d and fiber). Never mind massive permanent side effects.
I suppose maybe this tech can work better in the future and needs some exposure but it doesn't look like this is it.
