According to a Texas state senator, at least 18 children and three adults were killed after a shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. Authorities have identified an 18-year-old suspect who was fatally shot by police and continue to search for the gunman’s motive.

This is a complex American problem. I say that because only America has the 2nd Amendment in its Constitution, other countries have nothing even close to the 2nd Amendment. The focus now is on gun availability whether considered "assault weapons" or otherwise, it is not that simple. Sure guns are part of the problem, but there are always at least two common components in mass shootings, Guns, and Mental Illness/Hate. Unless ALL GUNS in our country are outlawed, including those used by law enforcement and the military, ( there is a zero 0% chance of that happing. ) murders by guns will continue to happen. Guns and Mental Illness must be addressed, how do you do that with a Law?? Japan, China, Europe, and other countries do not have the "American Problem" because they do not allow their citizens the Right to Bear Arms. They have mentally Ill citizens also, BUT those citizens do not have access to guns, only the police, and the military. Short of abolishing the 2nd Amendment and becoming like other countries where the citizens are unarmed, I propose that WE place more Value on the lives of our children, because there will always be Guns and Nuts in this country, face it! School children should be protected on the same level as high-ranking politicians and Judges, when was the last time one of them was shot? Think about that….. it should not be easy to just walk into ANY school and murder children. Why are children NOT protected?
